Terms of Service

Last updated: November 2025

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using SolarCostCalc ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

2. Service Description

SolarCostCalc provides:

  • A free solar panel savings calculator for UK homeowners
  • Estimated costs, savings, and return on investment calculations
  • Connection to up to 3 MCS-certified solar panel installers in your area
  • Educational content about solar panels, costs, savings, and grants

Our service is provided free of charge to end users.

3. Estimates and Accuracy

Calculator Estimates

The solar savings estimates provided by our calculator are:

  • Based on average UK solar performance data and industry standards
  • Indicative only and not guaranteed
  • Subject to variation based on actual property conditions, installation quality, and energy usage
  • Not a substitute for professional survey and quotation

Actual Results May Vary

Actual solar panel performance, costs, and savings depend on many factors including:

  • Roof condition, orientation, and pitch
  • Shading and local weather conditions
  • Energy consumption patterns
  • System quality and installation
  • Energy price fluctuations
  • Government incentives and regulations

We recommend obtaining professional surveys and quotes from installers for accurate assessments.

4. Third-Party Installers

Installer Relationship

SolarCostCalc acts as a connection service between users and solar panel installers. We:

  • Vet installers for MCS certification and basic credentials
  • Share your contact information with up to 3 local installers
  • Do not employ or control the installers
  • Are not responsible for installer quotes, work quality, or conduct

Installer Independence

Each installer is an independent business. You are responsible for:

  • Evaluating quotes and installer credentials
  • Entering into contracts directly with installers
  • Ensuring installers are properly licensed and insured
  • Resolving any disputes with installers directly

5. User Obligations

When using our service, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information
  • Use the service only for lawful purposes
  • Not misuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service
  • Not submit false or fraudulent quote requests
  • Respect the intellectual property rights of SolarCostCalc
